Enjoy The Kokan Coast Through Konkan Railway


Railways are known as the lifeline of India, as it connects small town and villages to bigger cities. The railways are an important mode of transport not only for people but also for goods and carriage. A lot of goods are transported throughout the country through trains. 


India is a large country with a huge population, with 29 states, many villages and cities. It becomes a huge place to travel. Thus the railways which connect the entire are huge network. 


To effectively manage its operations the railways have been divided into several zones and divisions. One of the divisions of Indian Railways is Kokan Railway. It connects the Kokan region to the rest of the country. It runs on the Konkan coast of India which is from Maharashtra to Mangalore. Its route begins at the Roha station in Maharashtra and runs up till Thokur station in Karnataka.

It comprises of 59 stations and 1998 bridges, which take the passengers across the Kokan Coast. Due to its uneven terrain and several rivers in its route the development of Konkan Railway took place with great difficulty. 



Konkan Railway Has A Special Scheme For Senior Citizens 


The Indian Railway government recently introduced 3 new trains to meet the growing demands of the passengers. Currently it has about 38 passenger trains running daily. 


It gives a lot of priority to passenger convenience and thus it is constantly upgrading and improving itself. Apart from various infrastructural facilities like foot over bridges, high level platforms and platform shelters, they also have a special scheme for senior citizen which is known as the ShravanSeva
